Essential Qualifications for Trainee Supervisor (Electrical)

Candidates applying for the post of Trainee Supervisor (Electrical) must meet the following qualifications:

  • Educational Requirement: Full-Time Diploma in Electrical/Electrical & Electronics/Power Engineering with a minimum of 70% marks (for General/OBC/EWS candidates). SC/ST/PwBD candidates only need passing marks.
  • Age Limit: Upper age limit of 27 years as of 6th November 2024.
  • Application Restrictions: Candidates with a higher technical qualification, such as B.Tech or M.Tech, are not eligible.

  • During the training period, selected candidates will receive a stipend in the pay scale of ₹24,000 – 3% – ₹1,08,000.
  • Upon successful completion of the training, they will be appointed as Sub Jr. Engineer at the S0 level in the same pay scale.

Selection Process for Trainee Supervisor (Electrical)

The selection process for Trainee Supervisor (Electrical) will consist of the following stages:

  1. Written Test/Computer-Based Test (CBT):
    • Total Duration: 2 hours
    • The test will consist of 170 objective-type questions, with negative marking (1/4th mark) for wrong answers.
    • Part-I: 120 questions based on Technical Knowledge in the relevant discipline.
    • Part-II: 50 questions covering Aptitude, Reasoning, and Numerical Ability.
    • Minimum Qualifying Marks:
      • UR/EWS: 30% in each part and 40% overall.
      • Reserved Categories: 25% in each part and 30% overall.
  2. Empanelment: Based on the marks in the CBT, a merit list will be prepared, and candidates will be shortlisted in a 1:3 or 1:5 ratio based on the vacancies. The final selection will be based purely on the CBT performance.
  3. Pre-Employment Medical Examination: Candidates must meet the health standards set by POWERGRID. The details of these standards can be found on their official website.

Key Relaxations and Concessions

  • Age Relaxation: Candidates from reserved categories will receive relaxation in the upper age limit as follows:
    • OBC (NCL): 3 years
    • SC/ST: 5 years
